A toddler who was at his families home in Detroit got a hold of a handgun shot dead his 5-year-old cousin on Wednesday.
According to Police the 18-month-old boy was with his father, grandmother and a Cousin at the home.
The toddler somehow got a hold of the firearm, and while playing with it, he accidently fired it, striking a 5-year-old male in the neck.
Police were called at the home in the 2400 block of Sturtevant Street, around 9:30 a.m. and arrested the toddler’s father, thought to be the victim of the handgun.
The 5-year-old was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The toddler and the victim were cousins, police said. The father was home at the time of the shooting.
