A California COVID-19 patient fatally beat his roommate with an oxygen tank because he was “upset when the victim started to pray”.
37 Year-Old Jesse Martinez was arrested on suspicion of a hate crime murder and elder abuse.
An 82-year-old Hispanic man who was being treated for Covid-19 shared a room with Martinez at the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California
The sheriffs said that the suspect became upset when the victim started to pray then struck the victim with an oxygen tank.
The victim died from his injuries the next day.
Mr. Martinez bail was set at $1 million, and he’s scheduled to appear in Antelope Valley Court on Monday, the Sheriff’s Department said.
