29 year-old Lakesha Woods Williams of Texas was arrested after she allegedly left her children, ages six and eight, home alone for six days.
After receiving a few calls from a concerned neighbor about the children being home alone authorities immediately went to William’s apartment on April 9th for a checkup.
Deputies later found out that Williams left her children alone for days while she went on a cruise to Puerto Rico.
The neighbors saw Williams leaving with luggage on April 4 and noticed she never returned home for several days.
Child Protective Services were then called to the home to check on the kids’ health and safety, the constable’s office said.
Authorities reported finding a web camera and cell phone that the children said their mother used to check in on them. When deputies contacted Williams, they said she was uncooperative and changed her story about where she was.
A magistrate judge reviewed Williams’ bond and kept it at $25,000, calling the circumstances “egregious.”
