A Florida mom accidentally ran over her 12-year-old during her first day back at school according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
On Monday the driver headed to Booker Middle School in Sarasota to drop the 12-year-old off. Shortly after the child exited the vehicle she accidentally dropped school supplies on the ground. Her mother did not see her crawl under the car to retrieve them and pulled forward, running over the 12-year-old.
“I honestly was just wiping tears,” said Myra Moore, who was driving her kids to school when she saw the aftermath of the incident. “Because I said, I cannot imagine what should be a happy day, a joyous day, just turned into tragedy so quickly.” |
The release stated the driver was a 30-year-old female, and that the 12-year-old had been critically injured in the accident.
“The incident was not from the speed of a vehicle that caused the injury. It was simply someone being in a rush and making an assumption,” Watson said. “Hopefully this child will be able to survive this incident.”
