A California high school principal was placed on leave on Monday after a video surfaced social media shows him dancing with a mascot during a pep rally.
The footage shows Buhach Colony High School’s Robert Nunes gliding in an chair and getting a lap dance to Ginuwine’s ‘Pony’ soundtrack.
Nunes can also be seen shooting confetti into the air during a lap dance in the 40-second video at Friday’s rally.
The school principal has been suspended following an incident during a pep rally where he reportedly engaged in inappropriate dancing with a mascot.
While opinions may vary, an anonymous parent has defended Nunes, expressing that the students enjoyed the pep rally and felt it was entertaining. However, amidst differing perspectives, the principal’s suspension remains in effect.

The Merced Union High School District released a statement regarding Nunes’ status on administrative leave which will be effective on Monday, August 19, 2024.
This decision comes as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all students and staff.
While the investigation is ongoing, Mr. Nunes will not be participating in any school activities.”
The District is conducting a comprehensive review of the situation.
