An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead inside a freezer at a Dollar Tree store in Florida, according to multiple reports.
Miami police said officers responded to the Dollar Tree located at 968 Southwest Eighth Street around 8 a.m. after an employee called to report finding a deceased woman inside the store, CBS News reported.
Officers discovered the woman’s body inside a freezer in a back storage area. She was identified as 32-year-old Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez.
Police said Sanchez entered the store Saturday night shortly before closing, did not make a purchase, and went into the freezer, where she remained overnight. She was found by an employee the following morning.
According to a GoFundMe page created by her family, Garay Sanchez was a devoted physician and the mother of two, originally from Nicaragua.
Authorities said Sanchez was not an employee of the store, and the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
