A Texas woman is behind bars after authorities say she carried out a chilling act of sabotage—hiding razor blades inside loaves of bread at two Walmart stores in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Camille Benson, 33, was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted mayhem after unsuspecting shoppers reportedly discovered razor blades embedded in bread purchased from a Walmart Supercenter and a Walmart Neighborhood Market, according to the Biloxi Police Department.
The first alarming discovery was reported on Dec. 5, when a customer opened a loaf bought at the Supercenter and found a razor blade concealed inside. Just days later, on Dec. 8, another customer made the same horrifying discovery after purchasing bread from the Neighborhood Market.
The situation escalated Sunday when yet another complaint prompted Walmart employees to scour store shelves. Their search uncovered multiple additional loaves that appeared to have been deliberately tampered with, authorities said.
According to New York Post Police were alerted Monday and released surveillance images the following day, quickly identifying Benson as a person of interest before taking her into custody.
Officials are now urging anyone who purchased bread from the affected Walmart locations to immediately inspect their loaves and contact authorities if they find anything suspicious. Walmart advised customers to throw away any compromised products and return them to the store for a full refund.
Investigators say they do not believe other stores were targeted. Benson’s bond has been set at $100,000.
