Florida Sheriff Issues Warning After ‘Sex, Money, Murder’ Gang Leader Convicted

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Florida law enforcement officials are sending a strong message to organized crime after the conviction of a high-ranking gang leader tied to a violent criminal network operating across the state.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced this week that the leader of the Sex, Money, Murder gang — a violent subset affiliated with the Bloods — has been convicted following a years-long investigation involving state and federal authorities. The case marks a major blow to the gang’s leadership structure and criminal operations in Florida.

According to officials, the convicted gang leader was found guilty on multiple felony charges, including racketeering and conspiracy, stemming from activities that included drug trafficking, armed robberies, shootings, and attempted murders. Prosecutors say the defendant directed criminal activity both inside and outside Florida while maintaining control over gang members through violence and intimidation.

Investigators relied heavily on wiretaps and surveillance during the investigation, intercepting thousands of communications that detailed the gang’s operations and hierarchy. Authorities also seized firearms, body armor, and large quantities of illegal drugs during coordinated raids connected to the case.

During a press conference, Sheriff Judd delivered a blunt warning to other gang members and criminal organizations considering operating in Florida.

“If you want to engage in dangerous, violent, gang-related activity, do not do it in Florida,” Judd said. “Most importantly, do not do it in Polk County.”

Judd also criticized the criminal justice system for allowing the gang leader to post bond earlier in the case, arguing that repeat offenders involved in violent crime should not be released back into the community while investigations are ongoing.

Law enforcement officials said the conviction is part of a broader effort to dismantle organized gangs throughout the region. Additional arrests remain possible as investigators continue to analyze evidence and pursue remaining suspects connected to the organization.

The convicted gang leader now faces the possibility of multiple life sentences at sentencing, which is scheduled for a later date.

Authorities say the case highlights the effectiveness of long-term investigations and multi-agency cooperation in combating organized crime, while reinforcing Florida’s zero-tolerance stance on gang violence.
