U.S. Marshal Seen Fly Kicking Small Dog During Memphis Arrest

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A video capturing a U.S. Marshal kicking a small dog during an arrest operation in Memphis has sparked widespread outrage and debate online, with a local resident sharing the clip and details about the dog’s injuries.

The footage, which has been widely circulated on social media and shared with local news outlets, shows a man wearing a vest marked “U.S. Marshal” forcefully kicking a miniature Schnauzer as law enforcement officers execute an arrest warrant in the Whitehaven neighborhood.

The dog’s owner, Emma Hollingsworth, told local media that her pet — identified as a miniature Schnauzer named Yoshi — ran outside of the apartment during the operation and was subsequently kicked by the marshal. Hollingsworth described the kick as “very hard” and said it occurred for no apparent reason.

Hollingsworth told FOX13 that after the incident she took Yoshi to a veterinarian, who diagnosed the dog with a broken rib and prescribed medication.

According to the video, officers from a task force — identified locally as the Memphis Safe Task Force — were involved in the arrest when the dog ran toward the officers. Moments later, a U.S. Marshal appears to kick the small dog, causing it to yelp and retreat.

On social media, reactions have been sharply divided. Some users condemned the marshal’s actions as unnecessary and cruel, while others argued that the dog’s proximity to law enforcement and a possible K-9 unit could have posed a safety risk, framing the marshal’s response as a reaction to protect officers and other animals.

As of Friday evening, neither the U.S. Marshals Service nor the Memphis Safe Task Force had issued a public statement addressing the incident or the viral video. Local news outlets report that requests for comment were made but no official response had been received.
