A Chicago mother says she was forced to move out of her home after a terrifying incident in which she discovered multiple strangers inside her apartment—one of them in her bed.
27-year-old Yanicee Miles, who lives on the city’s South Side, returned home in mid-March expecting a normal evening. Instead, she walked into what she described as a nightmare.
According to her account, three unknown individuals had entered her apartment without permission. One of them was found inside her bedroom, lying in her bed.
Police were called to the scene and reportedly found the individuals unclothed when they arrived. Authorities arrested two of the suspects on trespassing charges, while the circumstances surrounding how they gained access to the apartment remain under investigation.
The incident has raised serious concerns about building security. The mother said this was not the first time her home had been targeted.
She reported a prior break-in just weeks earlier, which she believes should have prompted stronger security measures from property management.
“I don’t feel safe here anymore,” she said in a local interview, describing the emotional toll the experience has taken on her and her children.
Following the incident, the woman made the decision to move out of the apartment entirely, citing ongoing safety concerns. Members of the community have since stepped in to support her transition, helping her secure a safer living situation.
