Passenger Arrested After Refusing to End Phone Call Delays Delta Flight.

A routine domestic flight turned chaotic when a passenger was arrested after refusing to comply with crew instructions to end a phone call before takeoff.

The incident occurred on a flight scheduled to depart from Miami to Atlanta, where passengers were preparing for departure during the aircraft’s taxiing phase.

According to multiple reports Shannon Marie Harris, 46, of Tyrone, Georgia repeatedly ignored requests from flight attendants to hang up her phone and follow standard safety procedures.

Crew members instructed the passenger several times to end the call, as all electronic device use must comply with airline safety regulations during critical phases of flight. Witnesses say the woman became increasingly argumentative, refusing to cooperate and causing a disruption among nearby passengers.

Due to the escalating situation, the pilot made the decision to return the aircraft to the gate. The delay frustrated passengers, many of whom had already been seated and prepared for departure. Videos captured during the incident show travelers reacting audibly, with some urging the woman to comply or leave the aircraft.

Once back at the gate, authorities were called to remove the passenger. Reports indicate that she initially refused to deplane, prolonging the delay and prompting the airline to require all passengers to exit the aircraft temporarily.

As the situation unfolded, tensions rose among those on board, with some passengers chanting for the woman to leave. Eventually, law enforcement officers escorted her off the plane. She was later taken into custody and charged with trespassing.

The incident caused a significant delay to the flight, as airline staff worked to resolve the situation and prepare the aircraft for departure once again.

Airline policies and federal aviation regulations require passengers to comply with all instructions given by flight crews, particularly during taxiing, takeoff, and landing.

Failure to do so can result in removal from the aircraft, fines, or arrest, depending on the severity of the situation.

The event quickly gained attention online after videos recorded by passengers were shared widely on social media, sparking debate over passenger behavior and airline enforcement policies.

While disruptions of this nature are relatively rare, airlines have increasingly emphasized a zero-tolerance approach toward non-compliance, citing safety as the primary concern.

The flight eventually departed after the situation was resolved, though not without leaving a lasting impression on those who witnessed the incident firsthand.
