5 in Custody, 9 Wanted After Fights Disrupt Lauderdale County High School Graduation

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities in Lauderdale County say five people are in custody and nine additional suspects are being sought after multiple fights broke out during and after a high school graduation ceremony in Ripley, Tennessee.

According to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, the disturbance happened following graduation festivities at Ripley High School and quickly escalated into what officials described as a chaotic scene involving numerous individuals.

Sheriff Brian Kelley said deputies responded to reports of several altercations at the event, leading to arrests and an ongoing investigation. Four adults and one juvenile have been taken into custody so far.

The individuals arrested are facing a variety of charges, including inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to authorities.

Investigators are continuing to review surveillance footage and social media videos in an effort to identify additional suspects involved in the fights. Officials said nine people remain wanted in connection with the incident.

The sheriff’s office has urged anyone with information, photos, or video related to the disturbance to contact investigators.

The incident prompted heightened concern throughout the Ripley community, with local officials emphasizing the need for accountability and public safety during school events.

No serious injuries have been publicly reported at this time, though the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of all individuals involved due to the active nature of the case and because at least one suspect is a juvenile.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office said additional arrests are possible as investigators continue reviewing evidence.
