HOUSTON, Texas — A Houston man is facing criminal charges after authorities say he repeatedly targeted homeless and disabled individuals by spraying them with a high-powered, motorized water gun and posting videos of the incidents on social media.
According to the Houston Police Department, 34-year-old Christopher Cayce was arrested following an investigation into multiple reported assaults involving vulnerable victims.
Prosecutors have charged Cayce with assault causing bodily injury, alleging that the force of the water gun caused physical pain or injury to those targeted.
Investigators say Cayce allegedly sought out homeless and disabled individuals in different parts of Houston before spraying them with a motorized water gun capable of producing a powerful stream of water.
Police also allege he taunted several victims during the encounters and later uploaded videos of the incidents to social media.
The case was investigated by the Houston Police Department’s Major Offenders Division along with the Westside Crime Suppression Team after authorities became aware of the videos circulating online.
Police say the investigation led detectives to identify Cayce as the suspect before taking him into custody.
Court records show Cayce is currently facing two assault-related charges in Harris County. Initial bond for each charge was reportedly set at $100, though court proceedings remain ongoing.
The incident has generated widespread criticism on social media, where many users condemned the alleged targeting of vulnerable members of the community.
Advocates for people experiencing homelessness have long warned that harassment and assaults against unhoused individuals often go underreported despite posing seriousn9 risks to victims’ safety and well-being.
Authorities have not indicated whether additional victims have come forward or whether further charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
