Authorities say 26-year-old Miami rapper Lazaro Lesteiro-Diaz, who allegedly performs under the names Drakula and YungLazz, is facing a long list of felony charges after investigators say he repeatedly livestreamed himself showing off evidence connected to an alleged fraud operation.
Police claim what started as social media flexing eventually turned into one of the biggest pieces of evidence against him.
Investigators say Lesteiro-Diaz regularly posted videos explaining so-called “bank spoofing” techniques while flashing stacks of cash, debit cards, identification documents, expensive jewelry, and other items authorities believe were connected to organized fraud. Instead of laying low, police allege he practically documented his own operation online.
According to investigators, those livestreams caught the attention of law enforcement and eventually led to a joint investigation involving the Miami Police Department, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI.
Once detectives gathered enough evidence, they secured a search warrant for his Miami-Dade home.
That’s when things allegedly went from fraud investigation to something straight out of a crime documentary.
During the search, authorities say they recovered a Glock handgun equipped with an extended magazine, ammunition, suspected promethazine, cannabis, large amounts of cash, multiple identification cards, debit and credit cards, a laptop, and a call-center style headset investigators believe may have been used during the alleged fraud scheme.
But what shocked investigators even more was what they say they found outside the residence.
Police reported discovering two decapitated chickens behind the home along with a live baby goat that allegedly had orange markings around its neck. Investigators believe the markings suggested the animal was being prepared for ritual sacrifice.
Miami Animal Rescue responded to the scene and safely removed the goat before it could allegedly be harmed.
Authorities also photographed the conditions surrounding the animals as part of their investigation, leading prosecutors to file animal cruelty charges in addition to the financial crime allegations.
Now Lesteiro-Diaz is facing charges that include organized fraud, identity theft, money laundering, armed drug possession, and animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill.
Investigators say the alleged fraud operation involved stolen personal information, fraudulent banking activity, and financial accounts belonging to multiple victims.
A judge reportedly set his bond at $30,000, but with one major condition. Before being released, prosecutors requested that any bond money be proven to come from legitimate sources rather than proceeds connected to the alleged fraud scheme.
As of now, the allegations remain just that—allegations. Prosecutors will ultimately have to prove their case in court, and Lesteiro-Diaz is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Still, the internet is already reacting to the bizarre combination of accusations. Social media users have been debating everything from the alleged livestream evidence to the disturbing animal cruelty allegations, with many saying this may be one of the wildest Florida crime stories of the year.
One lesson people online keep repeating is simple: if you’re allegedly committing crimes, broadcasting your every move on social media probably isn’t the smartest strategy.
Whether prosecutors can connect every piece of evidence to the charges remains to be seen, but investigators say the suspect’s own videos played a significant role in helping build the case.
