Florida Woman Accused of Biting Off Husband’s Ear During I-95 Fight With Kids in Car.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — A Florida woman is facing felony charges after authorities say a heated argument with her husband turned violent on Interstate 95, with their two young children inside the vehicle.

Amy Arlene Baker, 43, of Boca Raton, was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol following the alleged August 15 incident on northbound I-95 near Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach.

According to an arrest report, Baker is accused of biting off a portion of her husband’s right ear while he was driving.

Authorities said the couple was traveling home from a boat party at Fort Lauderdale’s port marina when an argument began over what investigators described as ongoing relationship problems.

According to the arrest report, Baker allegedly slapped her husband before grabbing his head with both hands and biting into the right side of his ear. The bite reportedly tore away a portion of the ear, leaving the man bleeding heavily.

The couple’s 1-year-old and 7-year-old children were reportedly inside the vehicle when the alleged attack occurred.

After the confrontation, the husband went to West Boca Medical Center for treatment.

When a Florida Highway Patrol trooper encountered him at the hospital, investigators reported that he was wearing a white bandage around his head. Blood was reportedly visible along the right side of his neck and on his clothing.

Baker also reportedly arrived at the hospital and acknowledged to investigators that she had bitten her husband’s ear. According to CBS Miami, she told a trooper that she became frustrated and “lost control.”

Investigators said Baker retrieved the piece of the man’s detached ear and turned it over to medical personnel.

The arrest report indicates that Baker and her husband gave investigators different accounts about how the physical confrontation began.

Baker initially told 911 that her husband had struck her. Her husband, however, denied hitting her and told investigators that Baker had slapped him while he was driving.

Authorities ultimately identified Baker as the primary aggressor, according to reports on the arrest affidavit.

The incident has also raised concerns because the couple’s two children were allegedly present during the confrontation.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was contacted following the incident, although authorities had not publicly detailed what action, if any, would be taken involving the children.

Baker was booked into the Broward County Main Jail following the investigation.

Court records cited by multiple news outlets show that she faces one count of aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability and two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

The case remains ongoing, and the allegations against Baker have not been proven in court. An arrest or criminal charge is not a finding of guilt.

The violent incident serves as another reminder of how quickly domestic disputes can escalate, particularly when they occur inside a moving vehicle and in the presence of children.

For now, Baker’s case will move through the Broward County court system as prosecutors determine how to proceed with the charges.
