15-Year-Old Anthony Rivers III Arrested After Florida Shooting Leaves 11 People Shot Near FAMU

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shocking shooting near Florida A&M University that left 11 people with gunshot wounds and another person injured while trying to escape the gunfire.

Authorities identified the teenager as Anthony Rivers III, who was arrested Sunday, October 25, following the shooting in Tallahassee, Florida. Police announced Monday that he faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and a charge of possession of a firearm by a delinquent. Prosecutors said he will be charged as an adult.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, the gunfire erupted shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday, October 24, near Perry and Manatee streets, close to Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium.

The shooting happened just hours after the university’s homecoming football game against the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, turning what should have been a celebratory weekend into a frightening scene for people in the surrounding area.

11 People Shot, Including Six Minors

Police said 12 people were injured during the incident. Eleven suffered gunshot wounds, while another person, identified as the grandmother of one of the victims, hurt her ankle while fleeing the scene.

Authorities said six minors were among those injured, with the youngest shooting victim reportedly just 11 years old. At least three of the people who were shot suffered serious injuries, and one was reported to be in critical condition.

The incident also affected local families and students. Leon County Schools confirmed that four of its students attending three different schools were injured in the shooting, according to local reporting.

Police provided updates on the victims’ conditions as the investigation continued. Five people who had been hospitalized were reported released, while others remained under medical care.

What Led to the Shooting?

Investigators believe a physical altercation broke out before the gunfire began. According to preliminary findings, the dispute involved people who knew one another.

Police have not publicly established a clear motive, and investigators said the victims did not appear to be the intended targets at this stage of the investigation.

Although the shooting happened near the university following its homecoming game, authorities have not confirmed that the incident was directly connected to the football game itself.

The circumstances surrounding the altercation and how it escalated into gunfire remain under investigation.

Teenager to Be Prosecuted as an Adult

Tallahassee police announced that Rivers was arrested in connection with the shooting and is facing 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder, along with a firearm-possession charge.

State Attorney Jack Campbell said the teenager would be prosecuted as an adult. Rivers appeared in court Monday, October 26, where a judge ordered him to remain in custody.

His arraignment is scheduled for November 16, according to local news reports.

The charges are allegations, and the case will proceed through the court system. Authorities have not announced a final determination of guilt.

Police Say Investigation Remains Open

Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell described the incident as a devastating event for the community, particularly because children were among those hurt.

Investigators have been reviewing evidence and information submitted by members of the public as they work to establish exactly what happened before and during the shooting.

Police said the investigation remains active and that additional arrests are possible. Authorities are continuing to seek information that could help explain the dispute and determine whether anyone else was involved.

The shooting has raised serious concerns for families and community members who gathered around the university during homecoming weekend. What began as a weekend of celebration ended with multiple people injured and a 15-year-old facing serious criminal charges.

As the investigation moves forward, authorities are working to piece together the events that led to the gunfire and provide answers to the victims and their families.
