Modesto officer shooting

Modesto police release bodycam footage of officer shooting, killing unarmed man while performing a “security check” on Dec. 29, 2020.

During a 9 call 29-year-old Trevor Seever informed police that their brother was sending threatening text messages to his family, saying, “just watch what happens to you” and that he was on his way to their home.

Officer Joseph Lamantia was the first to arrive at the church, and the shooting happened shortly after his arrival.

Footage shows Lamantia getting out of his car and running towards the suspect near the church.

Lamantia is then heard telling Seever several times, “put your hands up” and “get on the ground,” and several shots are fired at Seever shortly after.
