
A Florida mother was arrested and charged after police say her 5 Year-Old died after drinking a cup of Apple Juice that had meth in it last week.
Riviera Beach police allege that the mother Heather Opsincs left the cup inside the refrigerator which had apple juice as well as methamphetamine on the inside at a hotel.
Opsincs is accused of aggravated manslaughter in the death of her son, officers responded on March 23 around 5 P.M to an apartment in the 2400 block of Beach Court for a child not breathing. First responders took the boy, who has not been publicly identified, to the hospital where he later died.
Investigators later learned that the child was under the care of his baby sitter at the time when he took a sip of the juice and later spat it out saying “It Taste Weird” The sitter said that the 5 year-old went to the rest room and shortly returned Shaking with blue lips.
Opsincs told police that she was in the yard cleaning a cooler before learning about her child’s condition, when she returned to the room to find her son having a sezuire
The police also found additional drugs in the hotel room where Opsincs and her son were staying. Opsincs claimed she didn’t know how the methamphetamine got into the cup.
Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the source of the drugs.
Opsincs is currently in police custody awaiting trial for the alleged crime. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning for the young boy.
