A man was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree murder after police say he killed a 17-year-old boy he reportedly found in his daughter’s bedroom.
56 Year-Old John Moore of North Memphis was arrested on May 6 after officers responded to a 911 call on 1736 Edward Avenue.
Upon arrival police found an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Records show the teenager was shot just a few houses away.
Neighbors told authorities that they heard gunfire the night of May 5. The teen’s body was discovered the next morning on May 6.
His sister contacted police that day, telling investigators she hadn’t been able to find her brother since dropping him off at a home on Edward Avenue the afternoon before.
Detectives say a woman told them her fiance, Moore, had discovered the teen in his daughter’s bedroom.
A fight broke out between the father and the boy then the father opened fire.
Moore also shot at the boy as he ran away down the street fatally killing him.
Moore is in jail on a quarter million-dollar bond.
