A North Carolina father shot and wounded his 21-year-old son on Thanksgiving after a heated argument over NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem.
The heated argument started between a 21-year-old man and an older brother about anthem protests turned violent. Jorge Luis Valencia Lamadrid, 51, asked the victim to leave. When he refused, Lamadrid grabbed a shotgun.
The dispute escalated, with patio furniture being thrown. The victim, who had reportedly been drinking heavily, left, then returned to argue with his father. At that point, the victim threw a water bottle, hitting his father in the face, and allegedly caused him to fire the shotgun.
