96 Year-Old Mary Stoner died at York Hospital after being bitten by bed bugs numerous times, When cops showed up they found the bugs on her bed sheets,
the walls and Pillows.
Stoner had been in care for more than 10 years, other elderly resident of the home, which has since shut down, told officers she was blind but could
“feel them crawling” and biting her.
Butler told police she she had been using store-bought supplies to try and get rid of the menace since 2015 because she could not afford an exterminator.
She also blamed Stoner for bringing the insects to her property in the first place.
The carer claims she had brought Stoner to the doctor in January 2016 because she had been sick and scratching her neck, but didn’t
bring her back because she didn’t think Stoner’s condition had changed.
West Manheim Township Police said: “Evidence later indicated that the victim’s condition would have been clearly visible
and obvious that serious medical attention was required.”
Butler faces a felony neglect charge and a misdemeanour charge of involuntary manslaughter.
She was released on a £40,000 bond and will have to return to court for a preliminary hearing on March 9.
