“The coward was your husband, That’s why I killed him, He cried like a baby. That’s why I killed him. He cried like a baby” was the words that came out of Omar Rodriguez mouth during a court hearing.
75 Year-Old Omar Rodriguez of Florida was convicted of 2nd degree murder and sentenced to life behind bars after he fatally shot his neighbor Jose Rey, 52 during a dispute over dog poop in 2015.
Rodrigues can be seen having an outburst in the courtroom and taunted the victim’s widow.
As Rey’s widow, Lissette, read a statement at the hearing, Rodriguez got up from his chair and began shouting, causing several people in the courtroom to gasp.
According to prosecutors the two men got into a heated argument over dog poop while Rey Rodriguez and his wife Lisette Rey were walking their dog around the neighborhood in Kendall, Florida.
Rodriguez verbally approached the couple once before but Jose Rey and his wife ignored him then took their dog home and continued a regular stroll through the community.
During their stroll the couple for the second time came upon Rodriguez but this time he was shirtless.
According to nearby neighbors they heard the men arguing. And then, there was gunfire. Rodriguez shot Rey three times in front of his wife and then threatened her.
Rey later died in the hospital a week after he was shot. A jury took just six hours to render its verdict in May, convicting Rodriguez of second-degree murder and aggravated assault charges.
