Muncie, Indiana police arrested 38 year-old Melody Greenwood and Adam Greenwood, 36 in February after they brought their 10-year-old son to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Medical staff immediately called authorities and Child Services once they noticed signs of neglect and child abuse during a interview they had with the boy.
The child reportedly detailed a harrowing experience, allegedly at the hands of his parents.
The boy’s mother allegedly zip-tied his wrists and tied his hands behind his back as his siblings prepared for bed. She forced him to wear the restraints overnight and removed them with scissors, leaving scars on his wrists.
The child reported being fed only canned foods while his siblings had normal meals. He was also compelled to stand against a wall for hours daily, with his siblings instructed to beat him up if he spoke or moved away from the wall.
Melody Greenwood was preliminary charged with 3 counts of neglect of a dependent and booked into the Delaware County Jail. She was released on a $15k bond. Adam Jon Greenwood was preliminary charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent and was released on a $10k bond.
