Special Needs Student Dies After Family Said He Was Attacked Over His Cell Phone!

A Ballou High School student with special needs died 19 days after police reported he was attacked in a classroom. 

Joevon Patterson-Smith reported being hit in his face and body several times after refusing to let two people use his cellphone. Joevon told police one of the suspects sprayed him with “perfume” during the attack. He was released from the hospital, but had to go back after having seizures, the family told WUSA9 reporter Michael Quander. During his second hospital stay, he was declared brain dead. Joevon was pronounced dead Monday. He was 17 years old. R.I.P. Joevon Patterson-Smith.
