Two Babysitters was arrested and charged with murder after a 1 year old in their care died child.
21 year old Kiya Moore and her boyfriend Dejon Smith, 34, were both charged with first-degree murder after Moore’s one-year-old niece Kali Moore was found dead.
Kail Moore was rushed to a nearby children’s hospital around 3 a.m. on Saturday after suffering from cardiac arrest and died an hour later.
Doctors later determined she had skull and neck fractures, a bruised kidney and “massive bruising” on her body, according to (lawandcrime.com)
According to Tennessee authorities during an investigation Moore and Smith both pointed their figures at each other and blamed one another for the child’s death.
Moore said that she left Kali alone with Smith and when she returned the girl was “unresponsive.” She said he refused to tell her what happened and told her to say she fell asleep with the girl when she fell off the bed and hit her head on the nightstand.
Smith on the other hand said that he heard Moore yelling in the back room and the baby crying, then he heard her slam Kali into the walls, and furniture more then 10 times.
He told officers that when he asked her what she was doing she said that the baby was getting on her nerves and crying way too much.
Smith claims that Moore stopped once he entered the room then he saw Kali was on the floor unresponsive and began CPR then pouring cold water on her.
Moore and Smith are at the Shelby County Jail without bond on 1st-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges.
