Mom Plead After Toddler Drowned While She Was Cooking Pancakes and sausage

A plea agreement was reached by a mother from Wisconsin, aged 28, who faced charges for the death of her 1-year-old son.

The child drowned after being left unattended in deep water with her 3-year-old son while she was cooking breakfast in the kitchen.

After approximately four minutes, the 3-year-old walked into the kitchen. When Doxzon returned to the bathroom, she found the younger child floating face-up and unresponsive.

The initial determination by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner indicated that the individual’s death was caused by suffocation resulting from drowning, awaiting the conclusive toxicology findings.

Investigators stated that Doxzon confessed to acknowledging the excessive water level for the younger child’s dimensions and admitted that she lacked visibility from the kitchen to oversee the children in the bathroom.

Commissioner Barry Phillips spoke to Doxzon during her first court appearance on Tuesday.

A conviction for a Class D felony can result in a maximum of 25 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to $100,000.

A neighbor assisted with CPR until emergency responders arrived. The child was pronounced dead at Children’s Wisconsin hospital at 9:45 a.m.

Selena Doxzon made a court appearance this week at Milwaukee County Circuit Court, officially asking for a plea and sentencing hearing to be scheduled.

In June Doxzon pleaded not guilty to one count of neglect of a child resulting in death in connection with the drowning of young Asher Doxzon.

Doxzon was arrested and released after posting a $10,000 bond.

While Doxzon will likely plead to a reduced charge, the maximum penalty for child neglect resulting in death in Wisconsin is 25 years in prison.
