84-Year-Old Florida Man Accused of Setting Car Ablaze With Woman Inside After Relationship Ends.

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. — An 84-year-old South Florida man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he intentionally set a vehicle on fire while a woman remained inside following an argument, leaving the victim with serious burn injuries.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Friday in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven in Oakland Park. Investigators allege that Franklin Davis, 84, and the victim had recently ended a 42-year relationship when the confrontation escalated into violence.

Deputies say Davis, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, poured a flammable liquid onto the vehicle before igniting it while the woman was still inside. The victim was able to escape the burning car but suffered third-degree burns to her left leg during the ordeal.

Authorities also reported that Davis sustained burns to his hands and face during the fire.

Davis made his first court appearance Monday, where prosecutors outlined the allegations against him. He is now facing several serious charges, including premeditated attempted murder, arson causing bodily harm, and criminal attempt to commit a capital felony.

A judge denied bond, and Davis remains in custody at the Broward County Main Jail as the criminal case moves forward.

The shocking incident has drawn attention because of the suspect’s age and the violent nature of the alleged attack. While investigators have not released additional details about what sparked the argument, court records indicate the dispute occurred shortly after the longtime couple’s relationship came to an end.

Domestic violence advocates often warn that the period immediately following a breakup can be one of the most dangerous times for victims, as emotions and tensions may escalate unexpectedly.

The victim’s current condition has not been publicly updated beyond reports that she suffered severe burns. Authorities have not indicated whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

As of Monday evening, the investigation remained active.

Street Addictz will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
