Video Shows Pittsburgh Officer Striking Handcuffed Woman, Investigation Underway

The incident occurred in the city’s Homewood neighborhood during what officials described as a drug-related arrest.

Video footage that quickly spread online appears to show a woman, already in handcuffs, being punched in the face by a responding officer.

The footage has prompted questions about whether the level of force used was justified.

According to police, the woman—identified as 28-year-old Angel Bradford—resisted arrest and allegedly bit and scratched an officer prior to the moment captured on video.

Law enforcement officials have stated that the officer’s actions came in response to what they described as ongoing resistance.

However, critics argue that the video raises serious concerns, as it appears to show the woman restrained at the time force was used.

Community members and advocacy groups have called for a transparent investigation and appropriate disciplinary action if misconduct is confirmed.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police has launched an internal review of the incident. In addition, the case has been referred to an independent use-of-force expert affiliated with the Pennsylvania State Police to assess whether the officer’s actions complied with departmental policy.

The Pittsburgh Citizen Police Review Board is also conducting a parallel investigation to determine if the use of force was excessive or potentially criminal.

City officials have not yet announced whether the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave. Meanwhile, the case continues to draw attention as broader national conversations about policing practices and accountability remain ongoing.

Further updates are expected as the investigations proceed.
