Missouri Man Arrested After Strangling Coworker Over A Promotion He Didn't Get.

A Missouri man is facing serious felony charges after authorities say he attacked a coworker who received a promotion he had sought.

According to police and court documents, 32-year-old Jevon Mallory was arrested following an incident at a McAlister’s Deli restaurant in Bridgeton, Missouri.

Investigators allege that Mallory confronted a female coworker after learning she had been selected for a promotion he had also applied for.

Authorities say the incident occurred inside an office at the restaurant. According to the criminal complaint, Mallory allegedly entered the office, locked the door, and threatened the employee before physically attacking her.

Police claim he grabbed the victim by the neck and continued the assault until the restaurant’s general manager intervened after hearing a disturbance.

The manager reportedly entered the office, allowing the victim to escape. Police were subsequently called to the scene and took Mallory into custody.

Investigators allege that Mallory later admitted he was angry over not receiving the promotion and told officers he had gone to the restaurant intending to confront the coworker.

Court records indicate that he now faces charges including first-degree assault and first-degree burglary.

Authorities also noted that Mallory has a prior conviction involving a strangulation-related assault dating back more than a decade.

The victim survived the attack, and no life-threatening injuries were reported. Mallory remains in custody pending further court proceedings. A bond hearing has been scheduled for later this month.

The case remains under investigation, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
