Former Young Dolph Murder Case Defendant Arrested on New Stalking Charges.

Former Young Dolph Murder Case Defendant Arrested on New Stalking Charges.

A man previously acquitted in the high-profile murder case of rapper Young Dolph has been arrested on new, unrelated criminal charges involving allegations of stalking and harassment, according to authorities and local reports.

Hernandez Govan, who was found not guilty in August 2025 of first-degree murder and conspiracy charges in connection with the 2021 killing of Memphis rapper Young Dolph (Adolph Thornton Jr.), was taken into custody this week on separate allegations.

Authorities say the new case is not connected to the Young Dolph investigation or any of the defendants involved in that case.

Govan was accused by prosecutors of acting as a middleman in the fatal 2021 ambush of Young Dolph at Makeda’s Homemade Cookies in Memphis, Tennessee. The rapper was shot and killed outside the bakery in broad daylight, sparking national attention and a multi-year investigation.

At trial, prosecutors alleged Govan helped coordinate communications between the shooters and other individuals connected to the case. However, after deliberation, a jury found him not guilty on all counts, and he was released following the verdict.

Following his acquittal, Govan is now facing new charges tied to an alleged incident involving stalking and harassment of a woman, according to law enforcement sources.

Investigators say the allegations include repeated unwanted contact and threatening behavior, which led to the issuance of a warrant and his subsequent arrest. Officials have not released full details of the victim’s identity or the timeline of the alleged incidents.

The new charges are unrelated to the 2021 murder case, and prosecutors have emphasized that Govan is being held solely on the new allegations.

He is expected to appear in court for an initial hearing in the coming days, where formal charges will be presented and bond conditions may be reviewed.

Young Dolph, a well-known Memphis rapper and founder of Paper Route Empire, was killed in November 2021 during a targeted shooting. Multiple suspects were charged in connection with the case, with at least one defendant convicted and others entering plea agreements or being acquitted.

The case remains one of the most widely followed hip-hop criminal trials in recent years.
