Teen Arrested in Armed Robbery of South Boston Children’s Lemonade Stand; Second Suspect Still Sought

South Boston, MA — Police have arrested a 14-year-old suspect in connection with the armed robbery of a children’s lemonade stand in South Boston, while a second suspect remains at large, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, June 10, when two young children were operating a lemonade stand in the West Ninth Street area. According to police reports, the suspects approached the stand after making several passes through the neighborhood and asked whether the children accepted Apple Pay as payment.

Moments later, the suspects allegedly grabbed a cash box containing money earned from the stand.

Police say one of the individuals then displayed a black firearm tucked into his waistband before both suspects fled the scene on foot.

The victims, who were not physically injured, reported the robbery to their parents, who contacted authorities.

Police later released surveillance images and video of the suspects in an effort to identify them and requested the public’s assistance in the investigation.

On Friday, Boston police announced the arrest of a 14-year-old boy in connection with the robbery. The suspect faces juvenile charges including two counts of armed robbery and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, according to officials. His identity has not been released due to his age.

Authorities confirmed that a second suspect is still being sought as the investigation continues.

The robbery has drawn widespread attention in the community, with residents and local officials expressing concern over the incident. Despite the trauma, the children involved have reportedly received strong community support and are expected to continue operating their lemonade stand.

Boston police have urged anyone with information about the second suspect to contact investigators.
