Mother, Daughter Accused of Robbing Knicks Fans Following NBA Finals Celebration.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Two San Antonio women are facing felony charges after authorities say they assaulted and robbed two New York Knicks fans in the aftermath of the team’s historic NBA Finals victory.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, 28-year-old Destiny Lezzet Converse and 46-year-old Maria Victoria Gomez were arrested this week in connection with a violent attack that occurred on June 13 near the intersection of Navarro Street and East Houston Street in downtown San Antonio.

Investigators allege the pair, along with two additional suspects, targeted two Knicks fans who were returning to their hotel following Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

Police say both victims were wearing New York Knicks apparel when they were confronted by the group. Court documents allege that the suspects punched and kicked the victims before stealing Knicks merchandise, including hats and clothing purchased during the Finals. The stolen items were valued at approximately $600.

Authorities said several bystanders captured the incident on cellphone video, which later became key evidence in the investigation. According to arrest affidavits, the footage allegedly shows the suspects repeatedly striking the victims, with one male victim reportedly being kicked in the head during the attack. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

One of the victims suffered a fractured orbital bone near the eye socket, according to court records. Investigators stated that the injuries were serious enough to support aggravated robbery charges.

Police said they were able to identify Converse through social media posts and distinctive physical features visible in the videos. Investigators also linked Gomez to the incident after reviewing footage that allegedly showed her entering a vehicle registered to her husband following the assault. Authorities say Gomez’s husband later confirmed her involvement when questioned by investigators.

Converse was arrested on June 15 and charged with aggravated robbery and robbery. Gomez was taken into custody days later and booked on the same charges. Both women are being held in the Bexar County Jail.

The attack occurred shortly after the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 to capture the franchise’s first NBA championship since 1973, ending a 53-year title drought. The victory sparked celebrations across New York and drew thousands of traveling fans to San Antonio for the Finals.

San Antonio police have condemned the violence and said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue working to identify the additional suspects believed to have participated in the robbery.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the San Antonio Police Department.
