A Louisiana cheer mom has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for sexually abusing her daughter’s 14-year-old classmate, after her own child pleaded for the harshest penalty.
According to New York Post Leann Yammarino, 45, pleaded no contest to sexual activity with a 14-year-old student at her daughter’s Ascension Parish school and to sending explicit messages to at least five other teens.
During the sentencing hearing, her daughter addressed the court, urging the judge to impose the maximum punishment for the impact her mother’s actions had on their family. Yammarino appeared emotional and tearful throughout the proceedings.
Judge Keyojuan Gant-Turner sentenced Yammarino to the maximum 10 years on each of the two counts of carnal knowledge, plus three years for each indecent behavior charge. The sentences will run consecutively, totaling 26 years, meaning Yammarino would be over 70 upon release. She must also register as a sex offender for life.
Yammarino, a former cheerleading volunteer at the school, has been in custody since her arrest in July 2024. Ascension District Attorney Ricky Babin called her “a danger to minors” due to multiple victims.
Authorities began investigating after the 14-year-old student came forward, reporting sexual abuse starting in January 2024. Subsequently, five other teens, aged 14 to 16, alleged Yammarino sent them lewd messages, including videos of herself.
