Shocking video shows a day care director in North Philly dragging a 6 year-old across the floor to a bathroom last week.
50 year-old Nakia Bartley was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person, and related offenses.
Diamond Murray, the child’s mother, expressed her distress upon viewing the video. She initially received one video which was already in progress, followed by multiple videos from various parents. She noted that many children had recorded the incident and questioned what a child could do to an adult.
According Action News 6 the mother said that the incident started after Bartley asked her daughter to sit down.
Murray remembered her saying, I was standing next to the table, not bothering anyone. She recounted, Suddenly (Bartley) shoved me to the floor, hit me, dragged me into the bathroom, and continued to strike me. The assault didn’t stop; she kept hitting me over and over after shutting the door.
Lonny Fish, Bartley’s lawyer, issued a statement asserting that Nakia, aged 50, has a flawless reputation and clean legal record. Fish stated that his ongoing investigation is consistently revealing evidence supporting her innocence. He expressed anticipation for the forthcoming legal proceedings.
Bartley is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25.
