An Uber Eats delivery reportedly turned into a terrifying confrontation in Florida after a driver returned to an apartment complex hoping to get a woman’s phone number — only to allegedly get shot, pistol-whipped, and threatened with death by her boyfriend.
Authorities identified the suspect as 33-year-old Khuslen Saruultuya, who is also known online as Khuslen Khan, a fitness influencer from the Miami area. Investigators allege that Saruultuya confronted the delivery driver early Monday morning, October 12, at the Pearl Dadeland Apartments in Miami-Dade County.
According to the arrest report, what started as a brief conversation between the driver and a woman during a food delivery allegedly escalated into a violent encounter that left the driver injured and the suspect facing serious criminal charges.
Driver Returned to Apartment Complex Hoping to Get Woman’s Number
According to investigators, the incident began around 2:35 a.m. when the Uber Eats driver arrived at the apartment complex to deliver food to a customer.
During the delivery, the driver reportedly spoke briefly with a woman outside the building’s main lobby. Investigators said the driver told authorities he became interested in her during their conversation.
Roughly 50 minutes later, the driver returned to the property hoping to see the woman again and possibly obtain her phone number.
However, the driver was reportedly unable to locate her and began walking back toward his vehicle.
Authorities said Saruultuya approached the driver in a gray Chevrolet Corvette and pointed a handgun at him. The driver reportedly was ordered to get on the ground while the suspect allegedly kept the weapon trained on him.
According to the arrest report, the driver complied with the commands, but investigators allege Saruultuya fired a single round that grazed the victim’s right buttock.
While the driver was still on the ground, Saruultuya allegedly struck him in the back of the head with the handgun, leaving him with a roughly two-inch open wound.
Investigators further allege that Saruultuya ordered the driver to stand up before pointing the weapon toward his head and threatening to kill him.
The driver also told authorities he heard the woman pleading with her boyfriend to stop the alleged attack.
According to the arrest report, she reportedly shouted, “Babe, please stop!” as the situation continued to escalate.
Authorities allege Saruultuya chased the driver around the Corvette while still pointing the gun at him. The woman reportedly attempted to intervene and hold her boyfriend back.
The driver eventually managed to escape the confrontation and drive himself to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries.
The incident could have ended much worse, considering the allegations that a firearm was discharged and the driver was threatened at close range.
Police Tracked Down Suspect After Shooting
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the apartment complex after receiving a report of gunfire. According to investigators, a witness told authorities about an altercation involving a man with a gun who left the area in a two-door sports car.
Authorities later traced the vehicle information to a gray Chevrolet Corvette associated with Saruultuya.
The injured driver subsequently identified Saruultuya from a photo lineup, according to the arrest report.
Investigators arrested Saruultuya at his residence on October 12. He was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
Saruultuya was charged with attempted felony murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the alleged confrontation. He also faces separate drug-related charges stemming from a search of his residence.
Search of Apartment Leads to Additional Charges
According to reports, authorities allegedly discovered suspected controlled substances inside Saruultuya’s apartment during their investigation.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators reportedly recovered suspected cocaine, ketamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and other substances, along with prescription pills and cash.
Those findings led to additional drug-related allegations against the fitness influencer.
During a court appearance, Saruultuya reportedly disputed the characterization of some of the prescription medications, saying they were his prescriptions. The drug allegations remain separate from the charges stemming from the alleged shooting.
A judge denied bond following his court appearance, according to local news reports.
Saruultuya, who has built an online following through fitness-related content, now faces a serious legal battle as the criminal proceedings move forward.
