Barrington Middle School Teacher Under Investigation After Video Shows Black Doll Hanging in Classroom

Barrington Middle School art teacher Mrs. Karen Savage has been removed from the classroom and placed under investigation after a video circulating online appeared to show a Black doll hanging by a cord inside her classroom.

The incident reportedly occurred at Barrington Middle School, located at 5925 Village Center Drive in Lithia, Florida.

According to parent Nina Williams, her son — a student at the school — recorded the incident and sent the footage and photos to family members. Williams later shared the material and her concerns on social media, alleging that students questioned Savage about the doll and were disturbed by what they witnessed.

“Look at the photo. Look at the video,” Williams wrote online. “When the children called out this blatant, disgusting act of hate and asked why she hung that doll by its neck, she laughed it off.

Her excuse to our kids was that she did it ‘to get their attention.’”

Williams also claimed the incident had a strong emotional impact on students of multiple racial and cultural backgrounds, saying several students documented what happened and submitted written statements to school officials.

Hillsborough County Public Schools confirmed that an active investigation is underway. District officials said Savage has been removed from the classroom pending the outcome of the investigation.

The video has since gained widespread attention on social media, sparking criticism and calls for accountability from parents and community members.
