Chicago rapper Lil Durk whose real name is Durk Banks, has been found NOT GUILTY in his federal murder-for-hire trial, bringing a stunning end to a case that had the hip-hop world watching every development inside the Los Angeles courtroom.
After days of intense jury deliberations, jurors ultimately returned a not-guilty verdict for Durk, clearing the rapper of the federal charges prosecutors brought against him in connection with the alleged 2022 plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo.
The case had been hanging over Durk’s career and future since his federal arrest in 2024.
Prosecutors accused Durk of helping finance and orchestrate an alleged revenge plot aimed at Quando Rondo following the 2020 killing of Chicago rapper King Von, who was one of Durk’s closest friends and collaborators.
The alleged attack happened in Los Angeles in August 2022.
Quando Rondo survived the shooting, but his cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, was killed.
Federal prosecutors spent the trial attempting to convince jurors that Durk played a central role in setting the alleged operation in motion.
The government presented evidence involving communications, travel arrangements, money and testimony from witnesses who prosecutors claimed connected Durk to the alleged plot.
But Durk’s defense team fought back hard.
His attorneys attacked the credibility of government witnesses and argued that prosecutors had not provided enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Durk knowingly participated in a murder-for-hire conspiracy.
The defense also emphasized that Durk was not physically present when the Los Angeles shooting occurred.
After weeks of testimony and arguments from both sides, the case was ultimately placed in the hands of the jury.
And now the jury has spoken.
NOT GUILTY.
For Durk and his supporters, the verdict represents an enormous legal victory after nearly two years of uncertainty.
The rapper had remained behind bars throughout the federal proceedings while preparing to defend himself against charges that could have resulted in an extremely lengthy prison sentence if he had been convicted.
The case also became one of the most closely watched federal prosecutions involving a major hip-hop artist in recent years.
Durk’s supporters flooded social media as word of the verdict began spreading, celebrating what many are calling a major victory for the rapper.
The reaction is expected to get even louder as more details from inside the courtroom become available.
BUT DURK’S LEGAL BATTLE MAY NOT BE COMPLETELY OVER
While the not-guilty verdict is a massive win, Durk’s overall legal situation has included other allegations that were separated from the Los Angeles murder-for-hire trial.
Those separate allegations involve racketeering-related claims and were not part of the jury’s decision in the case that just ended.
That means today’s verdict should not automatically be interpreted as meaning every legal issue surrounding Durk has disappeared.
Still, the verdict represents a major turning point.
For years, Durk’s name has been surrounded by questions about the federal case, and today he finally received the outcome his defense had been fighting for.
The rapper has repeatedly maintained his innocence.
Now a federal jury has found him NOT GUILTY of the charges in this case.
And you already know the internet is about to go CRAZY.
From Chicago to Los Angeles, fans, fellow artists and members of the hip-hop community are expected to react to the verdict.
Durk’s supporters have spent months waiting for this moment.
Now they finally have something to celebrate.
Lil Durk beat the federal murder-for-hire case.
The courtroom battle is over.
But the conversation around one of hip-hop’s most controversial federal cases is just getting started.
