A knife-wielding madman with a lengthy rap sheet carved up his helpless girlfriend, stabbed her 9-year-old granddaughter Heaven five times and then torched their Bronx apartment Wednesday before finally ending the carnage with a botched suicide try, officials said.
Carmen Irizarry, 60, was found dead with multiple stab wounds inflicted by her homicidal boyfriend inside the charred living room at the St. Mary’s Park Houses on E. 156th St. in Morrisania. Gutsy little Heaven escaped the deranged Henry Maldonado, running up one floor to bang desperately on a neighbor’s door in the midst of the bloody rampage just after 5 a.m.
“I couldn’t see her since she’s so small — I was looking through my peep hole,” recounted a shaken Loretta Fleming, 47. “I said, ‘Who is it?’ She said ‘It’s me, Heaven.'”
