Man who killed Sister and Nephew over Wi-Fi router sentenced.

San Diego, CA A 61-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the tragic 2024 killings of his sister and nephew, in what authorities described as a deadly family dispute over a Wi‑Fi router.

William Bushey, who lived with his elderly mother in the Point Loma neighborhood, was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

The attempted murder charge stems from injuries sustained by his 86-year-old mother during the attack.

According to prosecutors, the fatal confrontation occurred on August 21, 2024, when Bushey became enraged after the family Wi‑Fi router was moved out of his room.

During the incident, he shot his sister, Laurie Robinson (61), and her son, Brett Robinson (33), killing them both. His mother, June Bushey, was shot in the chest and hand, sustaining serious injuries including the loss of three fingers, but survived.

A jury found Bushey guilty earlier this year, and during the sentencing hearing, family members delivered emotional statements describing the impact of the tragedy.

The judge imposed two consecutive life terms without parole, reflecting the severity of the crimes and the profound loss suffered by the family.

“This is a heartbreaking example of how disputes that might seem minor can escalate into unimaginable tragedy,” said a spokesperson for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. “Our thoughts remain with the family who endured this horrific loss.”

The case has sparked wider conversations about conflict resolution and the importance of mental health support within households, especially for families with multigenerational living arrangements.
