The man known online as VS The King was filmed attempting to greet rapper DaBaby outside the Planet Hollywood in New York City.
He later clarified that he is not a die-hard fan, but wanted to show respect, saying DaBaby’s music helped him get through a four-year prison sentence.
According to the footage, VS The King tried to offer a handshake (a “dap”) as DaBaby entered the venue accompanied by security.
DaBaby continued walking without acknowledging the gesture, which led to an emotional reaction from VS The King that was captured on camera.
In a later interview on Way Up with Angela Yee, VS The King explained that he had used an emotional, informal greeting while trying to express admiration, but felt dismissed by DaBaby’s response and demeanor.
Despite the awkward encounter, VS The King said he does not hold any resentment and was relieved that the situation did not escalate further.
