Woman Sets House On Fire After Losing Food Stamps.

EASTPOINTE, MI — Eastpointe Police have released footage of officers responding to a duplex fire that investigators later determined was intentionally set.

The fire marshal confirmed that the blaze started in two separate locations, classifying it as arson.

Tamika Bridges, a resident of the home, contacted police from a hospital, claiming her ex-boyfriend, Keith Campbell, had assaulted her and was trapped inside the burning property. However, authorities discovered that Campbell had been in prison since February 2024.

Surveillance video showed Bridges leaving the duplex calmly just 12 minutes before the fire erupted. No one else was seen entering or exiting the building. Bridges then disconnected her phone and went missing. Detectives later traced her through CashApp to Akron, Ohio, and she was apprehended by U.S. Marshals five months later.

During questioning, Bridges admitted she knew Campbell was incarcerated. At the time, her Section 8 housing was being terminated due to non-payment.

Bridges was sentenced to 1–20 years in prison for first-degree arson.
