Odell Beckham Jr. recently explained that NFL money doesn’t stretch as far as people think—even with a massive contract. Using a hypothetical five-year, $100 million deal, he broke down how taxes, expenses, and lifestyle costs can quickly shrink the actual take-home pay.
After taxes, he noted, the real amount might be closer to $60 million, or about $12 million a year. Once spending, saving, and investing are factored in, he said the idea that this money lasts a lifetime just isn’t realistic for many players.
