Ohio Teen Drunk Off Hand Sanitizer Attacks Officer.

CANTON, Ohio An 18-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after police say she punched a Canton police officer while intoxicated from drinking hand sanitizer and later damaged property inside the county jail.

According to Canton police, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on February 16, 2026, at a residence on 3rd Street SW. Family members at the home reported ongoing issues involving the teen and her boyfriend prior to officers arriving at the scene.

Police identified the woman as Jade Cain. Officers said she appeared visibly intoxicated, speaking rapidly and behaving erratically. Authorities later determined she had ingested hand sanitizer, which contains high concentrations of alcohol and can be dangerous when consumed.

While officers attempted to escort Cain to a patrol vehicle, she allegedly went limp and dropped to the ground. After being placed inside the cruiser, police say she suddenly punched an officer in the face. The officer was not reported to have sustained serious injuries.

Cain was transported to the Stark County Jail for booking. While in a holding area, authorities say she became combative, kicking at the door and striking the walls. At one point, she reportedly slipped one hand out of her handcuffs and used the restraints to hit a holding cell window, cracking and ultimately shattering the glass.

She has been charged with assaulting a peace officer and vandalism. Court records indicate her bond was set at $50,000. Additional court proceedings are pending.

Health officials warn that ingesting hand sanitizer can result in alcohol poisoning and other serious medical complications due to its high alcohol content.
