Just weeks before what was expected to be one of the most closely watched murder trials of the year, the case against OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney has taken a dramatic turn.
On Friday, Clenney’s legal team confirmed that a plea agreement has been reached in the second-degree murder case stemming from the 2022 fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli. However, the deal isn’t official just yet. According to a statement released by The Prieto Law Firm and attorney Sabrina Puglisi-Carames, the agreement will not become final unless it’s accepted by the court.
The defense said it would not reveal the terms of the agreement until they are formally presented during a scheduled court hearing on August 10, 2026, leaving the public wondering exactly what Clenney has agreed to and whether prosecutors offered reduced charges or a lesser sentence.
For nearly four years, this case has dominated headlines, true crime discussions, and social media debates.
Back on April 3, 2022, Christian Obumseli was found suffering from a fatal stab wound inside the Miami condominium he shared with Clenney. The influencer, who built a massive following online under the name “Courtney Tailor,” claimed she acted in self-defense during an argument with her boyfriend.
Prosecutors, however, argued that the physical evidence didn’t support that version of events and ultimately charged her with second-degree murder.
Clenney was arrested months later while staying at a rehabilitation facility in Hawaii and has remained behind bars since August 2022 after repeatedly being denied bond. She initially pleaded not guilty and had been preparing to take her self-defense argument before a jury.
In recent months, her defense team aggressively fought to introduce evidence they claimed would show Obumseli had been abusive throughout the relationship.
Attorneys also sought to present additional materials they believed supported Clenney’s claim that she suffered from domestic violence, while Obumseli’s family strongly rejected those allegations and continued calling for justice.
Now, instead of a lengthy courtroom battle, the case could be headed toward a negotiated resolution.
The biggest mystery remains the contents of the plea agreement.
Neither prosecutors nor Clenney’s attorneys have disclosed whether she intends to plead guilty to second-degree murder, plead to a lesser offense, or what sentence prosecutors may recommend. Those details are expected to become public only if the judge accepts the agreement during next month’s hearing.
Naturally, the announcement has already sparked heated reactions online.
Some observers believe accepting a plea deal is a sign that both sides wanted to avoid the uncertainty of trial, while others fear the agreement could result in a sentence they believe doesn’t adequately reflect the seriousness of Obumseli’s death. Others argue that a plea spares both families from reliving years of painful evidence and testimony inside a courtroom.
