A routine traffic stop in Tampa reportedly turned into a major drug bust after deputies allegedly discovered multiple controlled substances inside a vehicle.
According to authorities, the incident happened on August 27, 2026, at approximately 5:13 p.m. near East Fletcher Avenue and North 20th Street in Tampa.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and reportedly developed probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, authorities allegedly recovered cocaine, oxycodone pills, MDMA pills, cannabinoid edibles, and a tray containing what was described as cannabis sativa resin.
Rebecca Evans, 44, was taken into custody following the discovery.
She is now facing multiple charges, including three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, and possession of cannabis sativa resin.
The arrest is another reminder of how quickly a traffic stop can escalate into something much more serious when law enforcement says illegal substances are discovered.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding where Evans was headed or whether the drugs were allegedly intended for personal use or distribution.
As of now, the case remains pending, and Evans will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations through the court process.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
