Los Angeles rapper The Game is back with the third installment of his Documentary series, bringing together a major collection of guest appearances and West Coast energy.
The new project is a massive 24-track release packed with high-profile collaborations, bringing together several generations of hip-hop artists.
The Documentary 3 includes appearances from Drake, Ye, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, YG, E-40, Black Thought, Larry June, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Tyga, Leon Thomas, Drakeo The Ruler and several other artists. The album follows the original The Documentary and 2015’s The Documentary 2, continuing a series that has played a major role in The Game’s career.
One of the biggest songs fans have been waiting to hear is “No Brakes,” which features Drake. The collaboration marks another major addition to the long list of artists The Game has worked with throughout his career. Other standout pairings include “Steppers” featuring Lil Wayne, “Love It or Hate It” featuring Snoop Dogg and “40 Nights” featuring Ye.
The album also keeps its roots firmly connected to Los Angeles. Tracks such as “The Part,” featuring YG, Lefty Gunplay and AZ Chike, and “HELLA,” featuring E-40, RJmrLA and Serrin Joy, bring more West Coast representation to the project.
Meanwhile, “The Cookout” connects The Game with Bay Area favorite Larry June, while “I Won’t Be Afraid” features legendary lyricist Black Thought.
The full tracklist also includes songs such as “Geezus,” “The Life,” “20 Deep,” “Sticks,” “Do You Love Me,” “Nothing 2 Hide,” “LA Monster,” “Meet The Parents” and “The Pen.” The album closes with “Game Recognize Game,” featuring Marsha Ambrosius and Sela V, giving the project another major collaboration to finish things off.
Along with the album release, The Game also dropped a new visual for “Sticks.” The video was directed by Benny Boom and filmed at Los Angeles’ historic Pueblo Del Rio housing community, commonly known as “The Pueblos.” The visual continues the West Coast imagery surrounding the album and brings The Game back into the streets alongside friends and longtime collaborators.
The release of The Documentary 3 comes after The Game spent recent months building momentum through his DJ Drama-hosted Gangsta Grillz projects, Every Movie Needs A Trailer and End Credits. Those releases helped set the stage for his latest studio album and continued to showcase the veteran rapper’s ability to combine storytelling, street records and collaborations with artists from different generations.
For longtime fans, The Documentary 3 represents more than just another album. The original The Documentary introduced The Game to a worldwide audience and featured career-defining records that helped place him at the center of the West Coast rap resurgence.
More than two decades later, he is revisiting that legacy with a new generation of collaborators while still reconnecting with some of hip-hop’s biggest names.
With 24 tracks and an extensive list of features, The Documentary 3 is one of The Game’s biggest releases in years.
