Trippie Redd & Sexyy Red have officially joined forces, and the results are exactly as wild as you would expect.
The two rap heavyweights dropped their new collaboration “Meet The Redds” on Tuesday, August 11, along with an accompanying official music video. The track is produced by ATL Jacob and serves as the latest preview of Trippie Redd’s highly anticipated upcoming album, NDA.
And yeah, the title pretty much tells you what type of timing they’re on.
“Meet The Redds” brings together Trippie’s melodic, unpredictable style with Sexyy Red’s aggressive and unapologetic energy.
ATL Jacob handles the production, giving the song a heavy trap sound filled with hard-hitting percussion, ominous synths and some of that rage-inspired energy Trippie has become known for.
Sexyy Red takes over the hook while Trippie Redd handles the verses, creating a contrast between Sexyy’s loud delivery and Trippie’s more laid-back melodic flow.
The accompanying music video also plays into the whole concept. According to iHeart, Trippie and Sexyy recreate the famous “American Gothic” painting, standing outside a black house surrounded by red clay. The black house is also a reference to Trippie’s own home in Florida, which is painted completely black.
Trippie wastes no time getting into his flexing bag on the record, while Sexyy comes through with the type of energy fans have come to expect from her.
Shortly after the song dropped, social media started filling up with reactions to the unexpected collaboration. Some fans compared the pairing to other unlikely rap duos that ended up working surprisingly well, while others were simply happy to see the two artists finally make a song together. One fan reportedly called it a collaboration they “never knew” they needed, while another praised Trippie’s performance and said it was the best they had heard him sound in a while.
“Meet The Redds” arrives just days before Trippie Redd is scheduled to release NDA. The album is currently set to drop Friday, August 14, and “Meet The Redds” is listed as the project’s 15th track.
The new album will be Trippie’s sixth studio album and follows his 2023 project Mansion Musik, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. That album featured a stacked lineup of guests including Future, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Juice WRLD, Kodak Black and Ski Mask the Slump God.
With “Meet The Redds” now out and the NDA album right around the corner, Trippie Redd is clearly turning the pressure up.
And judging by the early reactions, Trippie and Sexyy might have accidentally created a whole lot of chaos with this one.
