Woman Sentenced For Acid Attack On Wichita teen

WICHITA, Kan. A woman was sentenced Friday in an acid attack on a Wichita teen in 2024.

Ye’Kira Hollins who was 18 back in 2024 was sentenced for attacking Passion Turnern Hollins was sentenced to 34 months in prison and 24 months of post-release supervision for one count of aggravated battery.

A jury found her guilty of aggravated battery on April 30.

On May 26, 2024, Passion Turner had acid thrown on her face during an altercation in west Wichita. She later arrived at an area hospital with second-degree burns to her face and neck. 

Turner underwent surgery to treat the burns. The acid attack left her with lasting physical and emotional scars.

The incident sparked outrage in the local community, with many calling for justice for Passion.

The trial shed light on the dangers of acid attacks and the need for stricter penalties for such crimes.

The victim’s bravery in facing her attackers in court was commendable.

Two other suspects, Tayronnia West, also 18 at the time of the attack, and a girl who was then 16, were also charged with aggravated battery.
