Two Women Arrested After $4,000 Lululemon Theft in Chicago; Hidden Tracking Devices Lead Police to Suspects.

CHICAGO — Two women were arrested in connection with the theft of nearly $4,000 worth of merchandise from a Lululemon store in Chicago, after investigators used hidden tracking technology embedded in the stolen clothing to help locate the suspects.

Authorities identified the women as 22-year-old Jamyah Smith and 19-year-old Gyliah Johnson, who are accused of participating in a coordinated retail theft at a Lululemon location in the city’s West Loop area.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when the two suspects allegedly entered the store and removed multiple items of athletic apparel — including leggings and other high-value clothing — before leaving without paying.

The total value of the stolen merchandise was estimated at approximately $4,000.

Investigators said the breakthrough in the case came after store security measures were activated. Several items contained concealed tracking devices, which allowed law enforcement to monitor the movement of the stolen goods after the suspects left the store.

Using that signal, officers were able to follow the movement of the merchandise as it was transported through the Chicago area, eventually leading them toward the city’s South Side, where the suspects were later located and detained.

Police confirmed that both Smith and Johnson were taken into custody without incident. Some of the stolen merchandise was reportedly recovered during the investigation.

Both suspects are expected to face felony retail theft charges, though formal court filings and additional details regarding their arraignment were not immediately available.

The case is one of several recent incidents in the Chicago area involving organized retail theft targeting high-end athletic wear brands such as Lululemon. Law enforcement agencies have increasingly relied on surveillance systems, coordinated tracking methods, and retail security operations to combat similar theft rings.
