SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Two Seminole County teenagers are facing criminal charges after authorities say they drove through local neighborhoods and targeted pedestrians with a gel blaster gun in a series of alleged drive-by attacks.
According to investigators, the incidents occurred over multiple locations in Seminole County. Authorities allege the teens fired gel pellets at people walking along sidewalks and in public areas, causing alarm among residents and prompting an investigation.
Law enforcement officials said several victims reported being struck by the projectiles. While gel blasters are often marketed as toy guns that fire water-filled gel beads, officials noted that the devices can still cause injuries, particularly when used at close range or in a reckless manner.
Investigators were able to identify the suspects through witness statements, surveillance footage, and other evidence collected during the investigation, according to authorities. The teenagers were later taken into custody and charged in connection with the incidents.
Officials have not released the names of the suspects because they are juveniles. The exact charges and court proceedings will be handled through the juvenile justice system unless prosecutors determine otherwise.
Residents expressed concern following reports of the attacks, with some describing the incidents as frightening due to the realistic appearance of many gel blaster devices. Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly warned that misuse of imitation firearms can lead to serious legal consequences and potentially dangerous encounters.
Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have been targeted in similar incidents to contact local law enforcement as the investigation continues.
No serious injuries have been reported, but officials emphasized that even non-lethal devices can cause harm when used irresponsibly.
The case remains under investigation.
